Our Engagement Story -
From Scott -
Words cannot express how happy and overjoyed I am but I’ll try my best! On December 30th, 2014, as the sun set on the Columbia River I dropped to one knee and asked my best friend to marry me. There on the docks in the fading light she answered with a sweet smile and a joyful “Yes”. This amazing woman of the Lord has been a partner in ministry with me in Guatemala for the better part of the last year and a half and now I look forward to her being my partner in life. We are both so very excited to share this news with you and to see what great things the Lord will do in and through our lives as we continue to serve him with our hearts and our lives.
From Charvel -I am a richly blessed woman. God has blessed me with an amazing man named Scott!
We have known each other since July 2012 as we were both in Potter’s Field Ministries’ IGNITE Class 3. We became good friends through the three months of training and the friendship continued to grow. He went to Uganda and I went to Kenya for our serving time for six months. We were both greatly impacted by our field time and I know that God worked in and through us for His glory. Our friendship continued through re-entry and it truly was only just that, a good friendship. In July 2013, we both went to Guatemala to serve as IGNITE 2.0 interns. As we were there serving, we just became better friends. Towards the end of three months, I personally was fighting having romantic feelings for Scott. On other hand Scott had decided that it was impossible for me to like him so ruled out any hints I was trying to drop. We were still good friends and talked here and there during our time at home. In January 2014 we both went in Guatemala again serving for three months, but during that class our friendship was different. I didn't want to ruin my friendship with Scott so I hid my feelings from him and did my best to bury my feelings for him. For me to do that effectively, I had to distance myself from him so we weren't as close. We both left Guatemala early April 2014 and didn't talk very much for a few weeks. Scott began to talk to me periodically which was completely usual in our friendship. After a few weeks in May, I was beginning to be a little weary about talking to Scott. We had begun to talk more and more but then he wanted to skype. During our Skype he told me of his feelings for me. Over the next week I had to process and see if the feelings I worked to burry were there. I had feelings for him and I let Scott know. Through much prayer Scott and I began a relationship. We were blessed to spend five months in Guatemala serving July – December 2014. Over the past 7 months we have grown so much together and we look forward to what God has instore for us this next season of our lives.
